New Single Released Today

Where Did Our Love Go hits the (virtual) racks today as the new single from the album. Lets hope the recent radio plays keep interest high and it climbs to the top of the charts…..we’ve all seen islands we’d like to buy!

You can buy the single exclusively from iTunes, but we also have a strictly limited number of promotional CDs available only from this site. You can get your paws on one by emailing us.

First Radio Plays for New Single

Despite the official release being a couple of weeks away the new single, Where Did Our Love Go, has been played on the Stephen Merchant show (on Sunday 10th June) and the B side, Jigsaw mind was played by Gideon Coe (on Tuesday 12th June). Thanks to both presenters for having such great taste….

Recording complete for new single

The band have recorded a fresh track for the B side of their new single, Where Did Our Love Go. The Track “A Jigsaw Mind” has allowed the group to indulge their deepest Joe Meek fantasies with epic amount of strange noises, morse code machines, tape loops and theramin wierdness. It is, as Dermot said recently, going to take the prize for the most psychedelic track of 2007! The track is going to be taken to Mr Beat at church road studios for a spit and polish and then its off to the pressing plant!

More news and a release date for the single coming up…….

The Dials and Whispering Bob

We’re rather chuffed that the legendary “Whispering” Bob Harris has now played four tracks from the album in as many shows on Radio 2!

We’re all great fans of his and have spent many a drunken evening in front of those old “Whistle Test” DVDs. (A small cult has even formed in appreciation of Edgar Winter’s classic performance of “Frankenstein” on said programme.)

Dutch review of the album

Here’s a review of the album from Dutch website www.altcountry.nl, as none of us speak Dutch we fed it into one of those translation sites and got this out. (We are thinking of calling the next album “In Wide Fifty Terrible Minutes”…)

We will live it with that at; zoveelste in file which americana-toer carry out flatlied refuse well. Already is here, however, a lot of particular to the hand because The Dials on their gelijknamige debuut (Gear Discs) on prairie-mat lay a hut derision to americana styles. That starts already with delicious surf-spaghetti-instrumental, entitled, how it is possible also differently, Theme From Dials. On what The Dials take along you on wild a ride by alto.country-countrycountry-country country-country. The Dials end up Brighton and existence from five men in sleetse dark packages and with the stropdasknopen on the knees: Martin Johnson (song, jet ear, to review), Dermot Watson (jet ear, rag stalk, pedal stalk, banjo, autoharp), Andy Taylor (ham mouth, tests, song, jet ear), Andy Davies (bass) and Andrew `Pidge Pidgeon (drums). A beautiful couple is it. A beautiful couple that has made a terrible plate. In eclectic (I weet it; a dirty word) style passes The Dials all americana stations. Spaghetti western, toefje Tex-Mex, what traditional country and a truck cargo spacy countryrock. The influences vary Sparks of Johnny cash to Beachwood, of New Riders or The Purple Sage to R.E.M. and of Syd Barrett to The Sadies. Gave koortjes, rattling drums, Farfisa and ham mouth and whining pedal furtive. Humour, bubblegum, twang and psyhedelic alto.country is such a beetje the basis ingredients of the delicious musical roller coaster ride of The Dials. In wide fifty terrible minutes zoveels come beautiful beyond that I am enough but with what weirde songtitels: From Fairying Champion To False Pegasus, Pontius Pilate ate K-Mart and most beautiful: Hello, My nasty Jesus And I m. An Alcoholic. I forgive the blasfemie them, simply because they provide me already for days mood to a good. A beautiful couple is it, The Dials. And what an excited plate! (Wiebren Rijkeboer)

The Dials at Dingwalls

A quick thank you for all the people involved in making the Dingwalls gig a success. The band had a great time and would like to say “ta” to Eleanore and the rest of the PRS/Fopp gang for all their help and support. A great night was had by all.

The Dials live in Fopp: London and Brighton

That’s right, we’ll be doing a couple of intimate instore gigs this month to promote the “Coracle” EP. The dates for these are:

Fopp, Brighton: 21st February 6pm

Fopp, Camden: 22nd February “sometime in the afternoon…”

Remember, this may be your last chance to see The Dials in such an intimate venue - Wembley Stadium should be finished pretty soon and apparently they’re desperate for bookings.

The Dials on the Jonathan Ross Saturday morning radio show

It seems an odd space for The Dials to occupy, but we’ve been played on last Saturday morning’s Jonathan Ross show on BBC Radio 2, sandwiched between guests Dale Winton and Joe Brown. What’s next? An audience with Rolf Harris? Who can tell.
